What I like about teaching? One of the things I like is that I learn from my students. Teaching via distance is demanding. A distance teacher doesn't get to see his/her faces during a discussion. I really like the building of relationships in a distance class althought it is a challenge. It is hard to know how student are reading each other and reading me sometimes but I think authenticity comes through whether I am on an audioconference or online.

I agree that teaching by distance takes us on different paths to communicating and building a learning community. But I really believe that I come to know many of my students better than I ever would in a face-to-face class. They seem to open up online and share both their questions/concerns and their solutions/successes.
